This, from some random Digg commenter. The words aren't mine, but they might as well be. The conversation was on the political situation at the moment, here in the US.
"I have always been an Independent since before voting age and was pulling for the Democrats to set a date and put some pressure on Bush; however, I was trying to stress the powers and under the table rights Bush has granted himself since the Patriot Act. He is literally positioning himself in an such an invincible position that I am both curious and afraid of what he may do before he loses office and what his successor does with the power. He has the ability spy on any American by any means, arrest you for no reason for however long he wants, and to make himself immune from all of Congress under a state of emergency he himself can define. If that doesn't cause concern, then I don't know what will."
The American part of my soul hurts, lots. Is it '08 yet? My congress with a mandate has let me down.
