Leaving on a jet plane

From the great John Denver:

I'm leaving on a jet plane
don't know when I'll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go.

Actually, I don't hate to go. I want to go, very much. I will miss people. I will miss Marius. But I will run all the way to O'Hare airport on the morning of the 19th. That's when I leave for Hawaii, to live among the people there for 3 glorious weeks.

I recommend this sort of thing to everyone. It's hard to be Autumn in the mnidwest... but mountains, the ocean, perfect weather, friendly people, beach bonfires and the Aloha spirit go a long way.

Especially when, here in the midwest, we're at the point once again of having to specify whther we're talking about the "real" temperature, or just how cold it feels as the icy zepher burns your cheeks, steals your breath, and makes long underwear seem like a great idea.

I plan on doing a bit of work while I'm out there; living the Corona commerical... laptop on the beach. We'll see how it goes.

Items to make sure and pack:

slippers ( sandals, to Midwesterners )
iPod
sunscreen ( lots )
a hat of some kind
the laptop
my sketching stuff ( dorky little box, sketchbook, and so on )
sunglasses
Maybe a camera. Maybe.

Standard daywear will be baggy cargo pants and a tshirt of some kind. Either a hat or a doo rag. Slippers.

More later : )
