A very special kind of hell

Apparently, The Onion spoofs the President on a regular basis. The Onion. This President.

Who'dve thought, eh?

Anyway, as part of the spoofing, the Onion uses a pic of Georgie with the Presidential Seal in the background. The Onion has been doing this for a while, now.

The Whitehouse has just contacted the Onion, and told them to knock that shit off, as they don't like it. This not a joke. The link in the last sentence leads to a New York Times article about the story.

With all the many, many things the current administration has on it's "To Fucking Do" list... you wouldn't think that it was a sensible thing to use taxpayer money and bigwig time to chase this thing down... with The Onion.

I am reminded of a cute line in the Firefly episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds" when Shepherd Book describes for Mal " a very s p e c i a l kind of hell..." This phrase was the first thing that popped into my head, followed by another very quickly from the same series, the episode "Jaynestown"... this one by Simon Tam:

"No, this is what it must feel like, to go insane..."

Why oh why is our government, our Executive Branch, who would seem to have better things to spend money and more importantly time on, chasing after the Onion?

It does not fill me with confidence. And yes, I know this is a teeny, tiny thing in a windswet sea of reasons to be concerned. But still.
